Knit Boxers

In the early 1900s, men's underwear consisted of nothing more than a simple, tightly fitting design. Today, there are several different forms of underwear available for men including briefs, boxer briefs and boxer shorts, or boxers.

While many believe choosing an underwear type for men is a simple question of boxers or briefs, men these days are actually quite picky about their underwear. Some prefer the tight fit of briefs, others the comfort of the loose fit of boxers, but many are picky about specifics including the material that their underwear is made of, including the popular knit boxers.

Boxer shorts tend to be much less revealing than briefs, which is a good selling point if you are going to be somewhere that you could be seen changing. This includes college dorm life, or in the locker room at the gym, or even in high school.

Boxer shorts usually extend to the middle of the thighs whereas briefs cover a very limited area of your lower body. Briefs, being tight in nature, also show the outlines of everything. Boxer briefs are kind of a blend of the two styles.

One of the most popular styles of men's underwear are knit boxers. These are loose fitting and extremely comfortable. The material is generally soft and, unlike woven boxer styles, knit boxer shorts do not have the unpopular elastic band around the waist.

Some men prefer to wear knit boxers, particularly in the colder seasons of the year such as fall and winter. This is because knit boxers are typically a bit warmer than woven boxers because the material is thicker. Many will argue that knit styles are superior no matter what time of year it is, though.

A lot of men tend to choose knit boxer shorts or knit boxer briefs over the woven style simply because they do not like the feeling of a thin, light material brushing against their skin or lower extremities. Others prefer them because they provide a much more comfortable and reliable source of protection from chafing and similar issues.

As with just about any form of boxers or briefs, knit boxers can be found in a large variety of colors and patterns. Knit boxers can easily be found online at various sites and are fairly inexpensive, depending on what brand name you choose to go with.

Basically you will want to find out which style you personally prefer. Considering that not many people will be getting a glimpse of your underwear, you pretty much have full reign of choosing a design no matter how geeky they may be!
